Moving from one state to another can be an incredible journey filled with excitement, challenges, and heartfelt moments. As a family, we recently embarked on this new adventure, and let me tell you, it was a roller coaster ride like no other! Fr

om navigating logistical hurdles to saying goodbye to our beloved home in Oklahoma, we learned that moving isn't just about changing locations; it's about discovering the strength of family bonds and embracing

the unknown with open arms. Join us as we share the ups and downs of our physical move, the emotions tied to bidding farewell to our last home, and how we're making our new house a home filled with love, laughter, and beautiful memories.

From OKC to LA

Moving day arrived, and with it came an overwhelming mix of emotions - excitement, anticipation, and a tinge of nervousness. We were about to embark on a new adventure, exploring uncharted territories in Louisiana. However, the journey wasn't without its challenges. Storm clouds loomed on the night of packing, causing delays that had us working past 2 in the morning with an early takeoff at 4:30 am. Talk about a race against time! But with some laughs, and Walmart’s finest air mattress, we made it through.

As we hit the road, unforeseen circumstances tested our resilience. Power outages in Louisiana left us stranded without gas, and we had to rely on the kindness of strangers who came to our aid. Meanwhile, our beloved pets seemed a bit uncertain about the move, reacting in their own unique ways. But in the midst of the challenges, we found moments of joy that warmed our hearts. Sweet friends visited us, and together, we explored the local children's museum, shared a delicious dinner, and even danced the night away. And of course, who could forget the classic "mom moments" when our own superhero mom swooped in to save the day, lending her helping hand in the unpacking process!

Grieving Over the Loss of Our Last Home

Leaving Oklahoma, a place filled with cherished memories, was not easy. We had built a life surrounded by family, found a wonderful community akin to our hometown, and forged lasting connections with incredible people. The day care was exceptional, and our neighbors became like extended family. Saying goodbye was accompanied by a heavy heart, knowing that a piece of our journey was coming to an end.

Coping with nostalgia is an ongoing process, especially when our little one expresses missing the familiar faces and places we left behind. But we've learned that honoring these memories is essential. We take the time to talk about them, reminiscing about the wonderful times we shared. As a family, we've grown closer by acknowledging that it's natural to miss what we had while being open to the exciting possibilities that lie ahead.

What We Are Doing to Move Forward with Making Our New House a Home

Embracing our new surroundings, we've been exploring our Louisiana neighborhood with enthusiasm. Local outings have introduced us to new experiences, and we're excited to connect with our new neighbors and build a sense of community once again.

Personalizing our new home has become a fun project for all of us. We're using this opportunity to incorporate fresh design elements, hanging new decor, and making the space truly our own. It's a delightful journey of creativity, reflecting each family member's personality in the process.

While we cherished our time outdoors in Oklahoma, the heat and humidity of Louisiana encouraged us to explore different interests and passions. It's an opportunity to discover new activities and create unique family traditions that will make our life here special.

Cultivating gratitude has become a daily practice for us. We count our blessings for the new opportunities and experiences that our new home and location offer. The love and support we share as a family are the foundation for creating a warm and loving home that will hold cherished memories for years to come.

As we move forward, we do so as a united front. Despite the challenges we faced during the move, we stand stronger together. Our family's love and support serve as a pillar of strength as we embrace this new chapter in our lives. With hearts full of hope and joy, we are making our new house a home where love, laughter, and beautiful memories will flourish.

XO,

AnneMarie
